YOU KNOW YOUR SHORT WHEN...

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if your were short? Now I don't mean like where you have to get on your tippy toes to reach a cup in the upper cabinets. I mean short to where you're climbing the counters just to reach a cup on the first shelf of the cabinet! This sort of thing is normal for me at any given day you could be visiting my house and you might just see me climbing the counters like a damn monkey lol! Hey sometimes I'm too lazy to go get the stool haha!

You know your short when your grocery shopping and you're having to climb into the fridge isle just to get the milk on the top shelf.

You know your short when you have to cut a good 6 inches off of your jeans just so you can wear them without dragging all over the dang place.

You know your short when you're checking out at the register and they think your just a kid.

You know your short when your shoes and some of your clothes come from the kid section.

You know your short when your 6 year old daughter is just about the same height as you.

My mother and my younger brother who happens to be over 6 ft!

Grandpa, me when pregnant, and mom! Short genes run in family!
You know your short when your changing your laundry load over and your whole body is half way in the dang washer to reach the last sock at the bottom.

You know your short when the seat in your car is pushed all the way up and you still have to put wooden blocks on your pedals.

These things are the norm for me, a lot of people ask me are you a midget? Well lets start off with the proper terminology. Midget is used as a derogatory term, and most short people prefer not to be called that. I personally prefer little person. There are many types of little people just to name a couple there is achondroplasia and pseudoachondroplasia. The fact is we are just like everyone else we work and have families, and live life just like normal sized people. We just have to do things a little different. I guess the reason why I am writing this is a lot of people aren't educated on the subject and might poke fun or call names. When I was a kid it was tough because let's be honest kids can be mean! I mean brutal! Now that I am an adult it's really no big deal and I don't have to deal with all of that but I do worry about my Lola growing up and kids judging her for her height. I know that she will grow up and be a strong woman for everything she will go through growing up tiny. You tend to grow some tough skin and soon you stop to notice the people staring and pointing at you all together. But the truth is that once you get to know me I am just like every other mother out there just might have to climb a few counters a day to get those bottles down :)
Here is a picture of Tony and I look how tiny I am compared to him :)

Lots of people ask me do you wish you were taller? and I say "NOPE" I love being short! And that's that!

Summer!

With only one more day left of school for Gwen I am fearing those two words "IM BORED" that will not be aloud in this house this summer! OH HELL NO! I have been on pinterest pinning away different activities for the girls and I to get our hands into. Even though it will be in the triple digits almost the whole summer, I think we will be prepared this time. We decided it would be best if we invested in a  pool and we have already started to break it in! The water is so warm and night swimming is a blast! The girls love it, and so do Tony and I. I wanted to give you mamas some ideas to keep your lil ones busy this summer and maybe you have some ideas of your own you would be willing to share as well!

10 FUN SUMMER ACTIVITIES
ALL UNDER $5
  1. SCAVENGER HUNT- Now if you live in a place where it's NOT over 100 degrees in the summer you can do this outside and have the kids look for pinecones, green leaves, rocks, etc. Or the other option I am going to have to do is an inside scavenger hunt with items like a paperclips, glue, blue piece of paper, etc. this will keep them busy for at least an hour or more depending on how many items you put on your list. FREE
  2. CHALK- I don't know about your kids but my Gwenny loves anything to do with art, so this is the perfect thing to do in the late afternoon when it starts to cool down, and she will be occupied with this for as long as I let her be outside haha and uhm hello! plus its like only $1 for a  box of colorful chalk at the dollar tree. cha ching! $1
  3. PUPPET MAKING- So fun and a good way for kids to use their imagination! All you need is some brown paper bags, construction paper, left over yarn, markers or crayons, glue, popsicle sticks, or whatever else you can think of to use around the house. Then after put up a sheet and let the kids put on a puppet show! So fun! $5 GIVE OR TAKE
  4. PAPER TOWEL ROLL AND TAPE-This one is great for the younger ones! All you do is tape a left over paper towel roll to the wall and give your lil one things to drop through it into a bowl at the bottom. Things you can use are pom poms, cotton balls, mini marshmallows (although Lola just might eat them instead haha) FREE
  5. LOWES- They have workshops during the month on saturdays where the kids can make things and best of all its FREE
  6. GO TO THE MOVIES- Harkins theaters has a summer program check it out here http://www.harkinstheatres.com/summerMovieFun.aspx kids can watch movies for less than $1 a pop! Now thats a deal and it's a great way to escape the heat and stay nice and cool for part of the day! $1
  7. LIBRARY- Our library offers free lego play time and story time as well as arts and crafts on certain days. Check out your local library you would be surprised at the things they offer. It's an awesome way to meet other mothers and for kids to still be social while not in school. FREE
  8. PLAYDOUGH- I searched a long while on pinterest for different recipes on DIY versions but this by far sounds like the nicest. Here is a link to a silky smooth playdough. It only requires 2 ingredients! In my book easy is best! http://www.mykitchenescapades.com/2014/05/silky-soft-playdough.html $3
  9. GARDEN- Let your kids pick out a special plant or some seeds and let them plant it in a pot and then the whole summer its their whole responsibility to take care of it and watch it grow. We got ours from the dollar tree and it had soil, seeds, and planter all ready to put together. $1-5
  10. DOLLAR TREE- Lastly this is the ultimate summer central. I stocked up on some great activities here for the summer. Just to name a few paint your own suncatcher, DIY sunvisor to decorate, coloring books and sooo much more! I plan on posting some of the cool stuff you can get from the dollar tree in a future post! $1
May your summer be filled with lots of sunblock and DIY crafts! Till next time mamasitas!

I'm BACK!

Being silly!
I'm BACCCKKK!  After a long journey of going back to the workforce I am back home with my babies and SOOOO happy about it this time! While I was on like an eight month hiatus I have been through a ton of craziness that I thought I might end up in a loony bin, but here I am writing to you guys and ready to poor my thoughts out to you mommy's out there, hoping some of you can relate. So who out there has gone into a situation thinking "Oh yah I can totally do that!" and then when giving your best shot at it you think to yourself "Oh good gosh what did I get my self into??!!!" I am notorious for taking on WAY too much and its all in good intention but I just tend to get overwhelmed and then freeze and nothing gets done. So we will begin where I last left off on this blog. I last told you guys I was going to start working and I did just that. So you gals can kind of see why I might have gone to a loony bin here is what my schedule looked like on a normal day. Monday through Friday I would wake up at 1230 midnight and get ready for work and leave the house by 130 am to get to work by 2 am. Then I would drive all over the valley in the wee hours of the night  sucking the blood I mean drawing blood of patients in Long term care homes all the way till 1030 am, I would proceed to drive my 1 hour commute home to get my oldest from school by 1130 am. Now there is major traffic usually so I would be speeding home hoping to God I wouldnt get caught (which by the way I ended up getting a ticket the day after Christmas UGH) but thats a different story, so get to Gwen's school and then come home to make lunch for everyone. At this point I was ready to drop dead into the mayonnaise and meat filled sandwich I had just made. Tony then would go upstairs to get ready for work and by 130 in the afternoon my hunny would be gone. I would literally see him for like 30 minutes everyday during the week. You can imagine what that did to our relationship. Lola my sweet baby would so lovingly keep me up for the next hour or two until she would finally pass out for her afternoon nap. Gwen meanwhile is doing homework and getting her things ready for school for the next day. I would guiltily put on a movie for gwen and plop her on the couch so I could maybe get some ZZZ's. It would tug on my heart strings every time I went to nap and Gwen would say Mommy I don't want you to sleep I want to spend time with you! But if I didn't take care of myself which includes sleeping I would be no good to anyone in my family. At this point I was so exhausted that even if I tried I couldn't keep my eyes open if I wanted to. So sleep for an hour and then back up to get baths and dinner started and rush from about 5 pm to 7pm to get both the girls fed dinner and into bed. Where is the time that I got to spend with my family you might ask??? NEVER! Yup that is why Tony and I decided it was a good idea for me to come back home for good just until Lola was old enough to go to preschool. So here I am home and ready to start up this blog again and very excited about it might I add! I plan on posting some tutorials for things around the house and I have a never ending list of things I want to accomplish as far as some DIYs go. Until next time chicas I will see you later... Here are some pictures of the last 8 months so you can see what my family and I have been up to.

Fall is here!

Fall is here and like the leaves change color so will our lives in many ways! First off Lola turned 6 months yesterday! Crazy how time flies by I cant believe I have a 6 month old haha! Here she is ready for fall! She had her 6 month shots today and still is smiling away!

So as I mentioned before change is upon us and with change comes new adventures. Just when I start to get use to this staying at home thing, we decide it will be best financially for me to get a job. Now it started out looking for a part time job but I found one that is the perfect hours for our family and I will be able to be at home with the girls during the day as well so we decided for me to take this full time position. I am quite excited and cant wait to get back into phlebotomy! I know i have been kind of absent lately but I have been consumed by the job hunting and spending some time with my family! This weekend my mom came out and visited us with my nephew! We had such a great time... we went goodwill shopping, because I love a good bargain plus it was 50% off day this past saturday! woohoo score! This is my mom and I ready to do some shopping!
Here is my nephew Dallas and Gwen ready to shop as well! We also stopped at Mimi's Cafe and ate some yummy food and drank these heavenly mimosas! My favorite was the hibiscus flavored one, who knew there was even such a thing!
We also decided to rent a movie for the kids called Epic... it was so cute and the kids loved it! Oh and the best part about Saturday night is we bought the kids mexican jumping beans! If you ever want to keep a kid entertained for about an hour straight get them some of these babies! wabam! We named them Jose, Cinderella, Juanita, and Jasmin.
Sunday came and we pulled out the Halloween decorations and decked the whole house out! Halloween is my fave holiday! Plus my birthday is only like a week before it so I always end up doing some sort of halloween party. I seriously think we might have more Halloween decorations than even Xmas! Thats how much this house loves Halloween! I will probably do a whole seperate post on my house decorations with some pics and also our costumes... would that even be something your guys would be interested in? Let me know! What are you guys going to be this year? Gwen keeps changing her mind like every other day. It went from Rapunzel to a snow queen in like a day, So we won't commit to anything yet haha! Anyways I will leave you with this... "Change is inevitable. Growth is optional."  John C. Maxwell. So make it your choice to grow with change and to roll with life's punches! Peace out mamasitas!

Strep and Teething a mother's nightmare!

SOOO I have been gone for a few days, because upon coming home from California my babies were struck with fevers, teething, strep, and massive diarrhea! Sorry TMI! but all you mommies no what I'm talking about right?? I can officially say I am worn down! I look like a wreck and I'm even lucky to get a shower in at his point haha...
I am not ashamed that I have no makeup on and my hair is a hot mess! That's ok cuz all moms have these days right??? ok see a pattern here haha I need some reassuring that this is normal and I will be ok and get through this. At this point needless to say I am stressed but that's normal right???
Last night I spent three whole hours in the emergency room with my Gwenny and turns out she has strep!!! Poor baby I have had this and it just aint cool! And Lola has a tooth coming in and is crankier than heck! So right now my mommy belt consist of Orajel, Powerade (the pink kind), Tylenol, and cough drops!
and these cough drops are our favorite because they don't taste like medicine! haha
plus my grandpa use to give me these when I was a little girl and I know they are the best! and only the best for my little princesses :)
Lastly I will leave you with these 2 sleeping angels! FINALLY sleeping angels!

Hope you guys have a good week and remember EVERYTHING will be ok!!!
RIGHT???
Until next time chicas lots of love and orajel your way :)

Labor Day Cali trip!

So I am originally from Orange County California and all my family lives out there. I come from a big hispanic family so we are use to always being around each other and doing things together, but since we have all disbursed and moved to different places it makes it so hard to get together all at the same time! SOOOO my mom was so kind and invited me for a girls trip to cali and we packed our kiddos in the mom van haha and was off to cali! Let me just say this was so last minute like she called me saturday at like 1 pm and was gone by 7 pm (she lives like 2 hours away from me) so she had to pick me up first! We didn't look at the weather and ran into major rain storms! We were so scared the whole time I was guiding my mom on the road, like " your doing good mom, you got it, your still in the lines!!" I dunno if it was helping her or not but it made me feel better! Finally we made it to cali and when I walked into my Titi's (aunt's) house my grandma was so so happy to see us! It was a good surprise because she had no idea we were coming. The whole weekend was fun to watch my kids play with their cousins and visit with my family. Made me miss the old days when we always saw each other! Every morning us ladies started the coffee machine because we Puertoricans love our coffee in the am!  Honestly we didn't even do much while we were there but just being at the house with everyone was so nice and was a great break from the norm. I did miss Tony quite a bit and he was wanting pictures of the girls while we were gone. I had to send him something so here are some of the pics he got!
Gwen in the background with her Starbucks! I swear she is such a lil diva! She is the Paris Hilton of the house haha!
Lola just chilling in the car! If tony was a girl this is what he would look like haha she looks so much like her daddy! There is no denying this one :)
And last this is my Abuela! Gosh I love her so much! After I had Lola she came and stayed with us for like 3 months and helped me with the baby and settling into the new house. Lola was so happy to have her Mamalinda to hold her again after not seeing her for 2 months!

Welcome! My name is Chantil!

So this post if my first blog! I have been on pinterest looking at other mommy's blogs and I was like "HMMM...This could be fun" so here I am introducing myself to the world! HELLO! Name is Chantil and I have 2 Lovely girls and an Amazing Boyfriend. I recently have started this new adventure of being a stay at home mom. Yah, not sure if I'm digging it so far. Don't get me wrong I love my children and my newest addition is so much fun, BUT! I am so use to always working and being social with people and sitting at home doing these home maker things such as...cleaning, cooking, changing diapers, laundry, and the occasional pinterest/facebook time can get a lil monotonas and lonely! So I am here to share my adventure and maybe see if anyone can relate to my life and new job as being super mommy!
My littlest looks a bit grumpy but I dont blame her it was like 110 degrees outside on the 4th of July in Phoenix AZ. But anywho this is my family! I love them so much. Going from left to right Me, Lola, Tony, and Gwen. To tell you a little about each of us Lola is 5 months old and let me tell you I am so in love with her. She is such a blessing and is the glue to our little family. She brought all of us together and has made us one happy family. Tony is my boyfriend and he is strong, smart, and my rock. He completes me and keeps me grounded. He is the calm rational one and Im the high strung worrying about everything all the time. But together we make and awesome team. I never thought I would find such an amazing man. Then there is my Gwenny she is cooky and funny. Always has something to say and soo smart! She is my mini me, such a girly girl and has been through so much with me in her little short 5 years of life! Because of her I am the person and the mommy I am today! And then me, I am use to being in charge and a bit bossy but I wear my heart on my sleeve and sometimes get hurt in the process but I would rather be that person to love and live life to the fullest than be to worried about getting hurt or missing out on awesome opportunities! Before I had Lola I was a phlebotomist YES A VAMPIRE!! Its funny thats the reaction I get from people when I tell them what I do hehe! I love being in health care and its a passion of mine to help people! I want to go to school for nursing and plan to do so once Lola gets a little older! So for now Im going to try and be the best mommy I can be to my babies and take care of the homefront! Until next time I hope you guys stick around to see my adventure and the things I get my hands into!
                                                    Me and my Lola!
My gwenny she has an amazing smile!
